Partner with the Department of Fish & Game in expanding volunteer programs for clean up, maintenance, information, and visitor services. Operates the only wetlands interpretive center in the region. Has an education director and wetlands research library on site. Directs the High School Wetlands Research Program in which classes collect data on water chemistry and plant diversity as part of a long-term habitat restoration study. Works cooperatively with Orange County Outdoor Education Department, Bolsa Chica Foundation, Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Huntington Beach Visitors and Conference Bureau and the Volunteer Center of Orange County. Conducts classes for students and provides projects for Girl and Boy Scouts. Has Volunteer Scientists Program for water quality testing. Organizes monthly non-native vegetation removal and trash collection and removal. Maintains native plant specimen gardens.
